Cara's wild dingo, our grand pup Lily, has a talent. She will pose while wearing things on her head. Too bad Heather has already cashed in on this. The dingo even looks like Chuck. In other family news, it seems we have a new dog. She's a sweet stray, but not very photogenic if you know what I mean. She's a small Catahoula Leopard hound. She has had a rough time of it so she is appreciative of her new bed. When I tried to get her to go outside before we went to bed last night she became boneless and glued herself to the floor. As in no way. Not going. Been there, done that and I didn't care for it. This is much better.

Perfect weather today. Carl is feeling well enough for outings so we drove to Keystone and visited my favorite junk store/boutique, Magpie's. The owner has a great eye for mixing old with new and displaying her wares cleverly. I feel inspired to go home and be creative after each visit. Carl found a church pew for the waiting area at the music store and I found a wreath that I couldn't resist.

When Katie and Jesse where little, they started a phenomenon known in our family as toe fright.

I am not sure why or who actually came up with the concept but I found them both on the top bunk, feet hanging over the rail, toes splayed, giggling hysterically, while yelling toe fright.

After Cara was born and just home from the hospital, we were gathered around admiring her and one of her little feet kicked out of the blanket. Jesse touch it reverently and in a voice full of respect and awe declared that she had perfect toe fright. He sent me this picture earlier this week. Livi has perfect toe fright too.

We dined at a great Thai restaurant in Tallahassee last night. Reandthai. Definitely five stars! This was sea scallops, mangoes and veggies in some kind of delicious, slightly spicy, mango sauce served in a coconut shell. We shared a desert of fried bananas and homemade coconut ice cream. Yummier than yummy. Thanks family for all the birthday love. Looking forward to taking my online photography class too.

A mama cat, with poor maternal instincts, lost two babies in our driveway last Thursday night. We had to be at the airport early Friday morning and said furry creatures were too young to survive without Mama or a serious caregiver. I left them in a basket in the boathouse in the hope that mama cat would reclaim them but no such luck. Thanks to Jesse, Leaa and Cara they survived. You saved those kitties! They fed them with an eyedropper until a home could be found. Wonder Pets move over.

This installment of that Dog Will Hunt is written by Carl.

As always our company is looking to broaden our range of services whether we really know anything about it or not. Keeping to this guiding sense of basically "what can it hurt"?, enclosed are photos of our newest venture. Behold our creation of a multipurpose indoor/outdoor thing, the CSTSS.

Indoors it saves some really unpleasant behavior from your three or four ravenous canines when you have so much food at Thanksgiving you only have two choices for serving it all buffet style. One... put the excess casseroles, bread, or salads on the floor and invite the mutts to join in OR two... here comes the CSTSS (Countertop Second Tier Serving Shelf) to the rescue.

Constructed from whatever plywood happens to be in the garage at the time (we always use onsite materials only, remember?) It is hacked into an innovative design of only 7 rectangular pieces. Join them together not with deck screws which are perfect for the job but are much more expensive than the few left over drywall screws within easy reach. Add metal runners to the bottom for elevation above the surface when used outdoors on the patio for those in between pots. the ones that are too small for the window sill but too big for the ground. We think of everything, don't we?

Round off the corners so should option One be chosen the additional diners don't get the sharp points jammed in their ears and eyes as they playfully compete for every last scrap. Hand it over to the hostess to be covered with a beautifully folded table cloth. Be sure not to remove the saw dust left from the table saw in case the dressing is a little runny.

I never liked this picture ( think it was the eyebrows that I found horrific, who knows, can't remember, but there's always something that I don't like about the way I look at any given time, now it's wrinkles and flab ) so anyway I didn't keep a copy, but my sister delivered her copy to me this weekend. Thanks Sis. We had a great visit which included good conversation, a trip to the Farmer's Market in Keystone Heights, lunch on the river, and time with Mom.

Wonder if this means your Flip will be a collector's item if you place it in the family vault (AKA our Attic) for a few decades? I recently found my first Mac Classic on a vintage site reselling for 1299. And yes, my Mac Classic is stored in the vault. In a nice storage bag I might add. And it actually worked the last time I cranked it up many years ago. I'm sure the battery has died since and I don't have one of those long case cracking thingys that were required to change batteries in those but if I did I bet it would crank right up with a new battery. I think I paid 1299. for the Classic originally in '89 at UNF - it has retained it's value rather well! Thanks Apple. It was my first computer. I don't count the used trash tandy. Although if we had kept that one...

Got the bejeezus scared out of me this morning as I was potting plants on the patio. A foot long lizard scooted in front of me and then stopped to stare. I've never seen a lizard this big on our property and as I got a better look at it I realized I had never seen this species either. After some quick research, gotta love the google machine, I believe we have a West African Rainbow lizard or an agama agama africana living here. Unfortunately my camera battery was charging so I didn't get a picture but I'll be on the lookout. I could not believe the size of this thing! I found a research paper, Distribution and Ecology of the Introduced African Rainbow Lizard in Florida, documenting the release of this species during Hurricane Andrew. Colonies were spotted as far north as Sanford in 2004 so they've had plenty of time to migrate north since. We also live across the street from a plant nursery so I can envision these illegal aliens hitchhiking in from South Florida. Or maybe they came in with all our new landscaping (Palm Trees). I'm already snake paranoid and now I've got to keep my eyes peeled for giant lizards. I know they are benign, but it's the idea of one actually getting on me that freaks me out. Pretty sure I'll have to be resuscitated if this occurs. I am also wondering where all the little green lizards, that I normally see, have gone? Hope this bad boy doesn't have anything to do with their absence. If he is indeed eating native species then I'm going to have to go all Republican on him. Yes, that's packing tape on his broken iphone. It did solve the problem (kept his face from being cut and the display from falling out ) and the solution was created from materials already on hand. It qualifies.

Love my new camera but being able to take pictures rapidly means more time for culling out the rejects and editing. It was a little chilly at the beach (Carl said he was feeling a little Canadian:) but beautiful. We are running our first report cards in a new student information system tomorrow. It is proving to be a very interesting process. I'm wondering how you could be a teacher in our county and not have realized that we have a new student information system which includes a networked gradebook that is mandatory. Whoosh. Whoosh is a G'ma ism. Interpreting it's meaning from her contextual use we can assume it is a good word for any exclamation, can be used to express disgust, or sometimes just to denote the effort required to sit down: Whoosh. What a day. What I must keep in mind is that there are many many more success stories in using this gradebook than not. I just get to troubleshoot the "nots" so it distorts my perception if I am not careful.

I held a red-tail fox pup today for about a half hour as we tried to find someone to help him. The poor little thing was weak and dehydrated and who knows what else. Not rabid hopefully. He wasn't aggressive or foaming at the mouth so I wrapped him in a towel and started making phone calls. Evidently some kids found him beside the road on their way to the lake. They left him at the boat ramp I guess because they thought he had a better chance of surviving there than on the road. He would have been a gator morsel by dark. I saw him as we were bringing the boat in. I was so awe struck by the experience that I didn't even think to take a picture. We ended up leaving him at a fire station to wait for his rescuers. I don't think the chief was real happy about his roll in this rescue but at least he didn't say no. I didn't want to bring him home but he was an awesome animal - even sick.

I decided to lock down some of our family photos so a lot of my blog links to albums are no longer valid. Sorry family. I watch the traffic on this site and thought we were OK but I had our albums wide open. I'll send you the link and notifications if you want to know when I post new ones. I got a little creeped out by one of my "fans". I did finally find the block option in Picasa but not until I had changed most of the album settings to unpublished. I know the stats that report how many pervs are looking at web pages but preferred to keep my head in the sand I guess. No more. Dang it and yuck.

On to better topics. Cara has shared a really sweet post on her blog. Thanks Care Bear. I feel the same way. Not about the gross and barfy part though.

We may have a new pet. A black chicken has started hanging out in the yard. And she can fly. Not just hop up a few feet while flapping her wings but really fly. Carl and I don't think chickens are suppose to be able to do that. She must be a wild hen. Or an escapee with wanderlust. Initially she stayed near the edge of the woods but today she strutted across the pavers in front of the garage like she owned the joint.
